Terms of Service
The terms that govern purchases from this store.
Please read these terms carefully before you buy. Placing an order confirms your agreement to them.
Effective: [EFFECTIVE DATE]. Draft: under review — not yet in force.
1. About these terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") apply to the digital ebook store operated at patakemvingir.com (the "Store") by [LEGAL ENTITY NAME], a business registered in the Federal Republic of Nigeria with its registered office at [REGISTERED BUSINESS ADDRESS] ("we", "us", "our"). By placing an order you agree to these Terms.
2. What we sell
We sell digital ebooks authored or published by Major General Pat Akem-Vingir (rtd), PhD. Each order is a one-time purchase of a licence to access and read the ebook for personal, non-commercial use. We do not sell physical copies through this Store.
3. Ordering
Orders are placed as a guest — no account is required. You will be asked for an email address so we can send your receipt and download link. You are responsible for providing an accurate and monitored email address; we are not liable for delivery failures caused by an incorrect or inaccessible email.
4. Prices and payment
All prices are shown in Nigerian Naira (NGN) and include any applicable taxes unless otherwise stated. Payment is processed by Paystack, a licensed Nigerian payment services provider. We do not receive or store your card details. Your bank or card issuer may apply additional charges.
5. Delivery
Once payment is confirmed we send a receipt and a time-limited download link to the email address you provided. The download link is single-order and subject to an expiry period and a maximum number of downloads per order, both stated in the email. If your link expires before you have finished downloading, contact us at books@patakemvingir.com and we will issue a fresh link.
6. Licence to use the ebook
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to download and read the ebook for your personal, non-commercial use. You may not, without our written permission:
- republish, redistribute, resell, sublicense, or share the ebook or any part of it;
- upload the ebook to any file-sharing service, website, or public repository;
- remove, alter, or obscure any copyright, watermark, or attribution;
- use the ebook to train, fine-tune, or evaluate any machine-learning model;
- use the ebook or its content for any commercial purpose.
7. Intellectual property
All ebooks and all content on this Store — including text, cover art, and layout — are the intellectual property of the author or their licensors, and are protected by the copyright laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and international treaties. All rights not expressly granted to you in these Terms are reserved.
8. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the Store for any unlawful purpose, not to attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Store or its systems, and not to interfere with its operation. We may suspend or terminate access if we reasonably believe you have breached these Terms.
9. Refunds
Digital purchases are generally final. Refunds are handled under our Refund Policy, which forms part of these Terms.
10. Availability
We aim to keep the Store available at all times, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We may add, remove, or update titles, prices, and features at any time. Where a title is withdrawn from sale, previously issued download links remain valid subject to their stated expiry and download limits.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by Nigerian law, our total liability arising out of or in connection with your use of the Store or any ebook is limited to the amount you paid for the order that gave rise to the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive losses, or for loss of data, profits, revenue, or goodwill. Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded, including liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by our negligence.
12. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The courts of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, have exclusive jurisdiction to settle any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms, except that we may bring proceedings against you in any jurisdiction where you are resident or where the Store has been accessed.
13. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The version in force at the time of your order applies to that order. The current version is always published at this page, with the effective date shown above.
